Vizsla Club of Greater New York Holiday Party

Quite a few members of the Vizsla Club of Greater New York traveled to Rita and Joe’s Restaurant in Jersey City for our holiday party recently.

Rita and Joe’s is a family owned Italian restaurant that has been a neighborhood fixture for years. We were treated like family and used a large private room in the back of the restaurant for our get together.

Edie and Joe and Stan and Steve traveled from Pennsylvania to attend and Joan Heimbach and Chet and Nancy made the trip from their homes in NY. It was good to see Joan back on feet after her recent accident at a field trial. She is in great spirits and eager to get back to her old activities.

Two of our youngest members also had a great time. Nicholas and Shannon Anderson enjoyed being with us and we enjoyed their company, especially Nicholas who loved the Chinese Auction.

One feature of the Chinese Auction was a cardboard box which was not wrapped in Christmas paper and had several air holes punched in it. It also carried a warning to open carefully as “it will fly”. I believe that Joan Heimbach was the recipient of the chukar which she in turn gave to Tony! There was the usual passing around of the gifts and some folks even hid their gifts so that exchanging was challenging, but fun.

Dessert time featured homemade cookies by the owner of the restaurant and a cake from Rispoli’s, a well known bakery in the area.

It was a wonderful opportunity to renew acquaintances and catch up on how are families-dogs and humans are doing!
